Mountain biking in McKinney: Erwin Park

Erwin Park is a city of McKinney public park. The trail is just under 8 miles. Lots of places to go airborne. Lots of dips. Tight trees that will test your handling. Open fields to go real fast in.

Camping is allowed for a very nominal fee. Contact the city community center at 972-542-0045. They are located on the north bound service road of central, north of Eldorado Parkway.

Directions to Trailhead:

  • Take US75 to McKinney.
  • Take exit 41 (Highway 380).
  • Go West 2.5 miles (toward Denton).
  • Take a right (north) on State Rd 1461 and go 2.1 miles toward Rhea Mills.
  • Take a right at the sign for Erwin Park on CR 162, a short road
  • Turn right onto CR 164, a paved road.
  • Proceed .9 miles (passing CR943 on the right) and turn left at the sign onto CR 1006.
  • CR 164 turns into a gravel road just past this turn.
  • The entrance to Erwin Park is on the right .4 miles.
  • Enter, take a left at the road split and pass the first parking area and monument.
  • Park on the pavement (only) near the pecan grove/pavillion. The trail head is marked with an arrow and tire on a pole.
